FULL-TIME & BENEFITED PART-TIME UNION (NON-EXEMPT) EMPLOYEES

 

COMMENTS: Listed below is a general overview of Paid Time Off (PTO) for non-exempt FT and benefited PT employees. Please see the CWA 1101 Union Contract for additional information.

 

Employees are not entitled to utilize any accrued vacation, sick or personal time during their first six (6) months of employment. Floating holidays may be used after ninety (90) days of employment. Employees are eligible for holiday pay immediately (please see listing of paid holidays in your department).  Sick leave will be earned only during a calendar month in which the employee has been at work at least two (2) full weeks. If employment terminates during an employee’s first six (6) months of employment, or resigns with less than two (2) weeks notice, accrued vacation benefits are not payable at the time of termination.  Benefited part-time employees earn all PTO on a prorated basis.

 

VACATION: Accrued on a bi-weekly basis as described below. If remaining vacation time is not utilized by the end of the calendar year, it will convert to floating holidays.  (See HR rep for date).  Vacation time must be scheduled prior to usage.

SICK (Short-Term): If short-term sick time is not used by the end of the calendar year, it will be converted to long-term sick.  (See HR rep for date).  Scheduling in advance is not required. To be used only when an employee is ill or injured.  Accumulated sick days are not payable to an employee upon termination, resignation, retirement, etc.

 

Employees will receive six (6) sick days as follows:

  • Four (4) days on the first day of the first full pay period of the new year
  • One (1) day on the first day of the first full pay period of May
  • One (1) day on the first day of the first full pay period of September

SICK (Long-Term): Accrued on a bi-weekly basis as described below. LTS accumulates yearly up to a maximum of one hundred and twenty (120) working days. Scheduling in advance is not required. See Short-Term Sick above and the union contract for more information regarding utilization.

PERSONAL: Personal time may be carried over to the following year and must be used by the end of the fourth full pay period of that year or be lost.  May be used in hourly increments.  May not be used between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day except in case of documented emergency or unless scheduled in advance with prior management approval.  Personal time is not payable upon termination, resignation, retirement, etc.

  • If employed from prior year to present year, employees are eligible for two (2) days.
  • Full-time and benefited part-time employees hired before July 1 (Jan 1- June 30) will be eligible for one (1) day.

 

FLOATING HOLIDAYS: Floating holidays may be used after ninety (90) days of employment. Employees will receive floating holidays as listed below. Floating holidays must be used within the calendar year and must be scheduled in advance.

  • Seven (7) days if hired by January 31
  • Six (6) days if hired between February 1 and March 15
  • Five (5) days if hired between March 16 and May 15
  • Four (4) days if hired between May 16 and July 15
  • Three (3) days if hired between July 16 and August 31
  • No days will be given if hired after August 31
